Charles Chassé was the Beauce pioneer of wood transformation and founder of the Ste-Marie family business in1877. His love of wood and mastery of his craft have been passed on to his descendants.

Environment: Our Concern

We respect the environment and our equipment and infrastructure reflect this. Additionally, at Chassé all raw materials residues are recycled into various by-products.

The manufacture of pallets involves using raw material, which would have otherwise been transformed into boiler fuel or raw paper mill material. The selection process of manufacturers in choosing wood to produce pallets is determined by the structural quality of the wood rather than the esthetic beauty. A tree is never cut with the specific intent of manufacturing pallets.

Wooden pallets therefore respect the established environmental norms, the 4 R's.

• Renewable: manufactured from a raw material, which is renewable.
• Reusable: can be returned for re-use
• Repairable: can be easily repaired at a cost less than its acquisition
• Recyclable: can be disassembled to be used in the manufacture of a recycled pallet or be ground to use as boiler fuel, animal bedding or landscape mulch.

Chassé Inc is one of the rare companies in Quebec, which has to its accreditation a Certificate of Authorization in the Manufacturing of Wooden Pallets, given by the Ministry of Environment Quebec.
